Saturn

At the observatory you can see Saturn's rings and moons.

Although Saturn is over 1000 million kilometres away we can clearly see the shadow cast by the ring on the planet! The largest moon in the solar system, Titan, is clearly visible. Saturn can only be seen from October till about March, so if you want to see it you had better come and visit us!

Jupiter

Four of Jupiter's moons can be seen, Io, Europa, Callisto and Ganymede. Because of Jupiter's fast rotational speed, 44 000 km/h, we don't see the Great Red Spot each night. It is possible to see eclipses as they occur from Jupiter's moons, passing across the planet.

At the moment Jupiter cannot be viewed, but by mid year we should see this GIANT again. Within the next few months Mars will be back!
