Hale-Bopp taken by Nathan Tate! Hale-Bopp was an excellent comet to view in 1997. This photo was taken by an ex-student of mine, Nathan Tate

He was in  Year 12 at Gilgandra High School when he snapped this shot.  In 1997  he co-discovered a galaxy whilst doing Work Experience at Parkes! Now Nathan works for the Australian Defence Force Academy as an Aeronautical Engineer and hopes to one day work in Space Exploration!

Having graduated from the Australian Defence Force Academy in 2001 and completed his Bachelor of Engineering (Aeronautical) in 2002, Nathan now works as an Aerospace Engineer in the F/A-18 Hornet Airframe Structures section of the Tactical Fight Systems Program Office at RAAF Base Williamtown. In the coming years Nathan hopes to pursue a career in Space Operations with the RAAF.

This shot was taken from his front yard!
